The best application of artificial intelligence I've ever seen in Senior Living
You can't escape it. AI is everywhere.
The conversation intensity over artificial intelligence in our day-to-day lives has exploded since ChapGPT went mainstream. So too has the race to apply common sense and usefulness.
The first product with artificial intelligence brought to senior living that I recall, was a product that housed predispensed medication, allowed seniors to talk with a qualified registered nurse and receive reminders. It was brought to market by Sunrise At Home in 2000.
That prototype was revolutionary 25 years ago. It was also a total failure in the marketplace.
If you've attended any senior living conference over the last 5 years, I am guessing that you were as awe-struck, as I was, over the capacity of technology in aging.
Who doesn't love the novelty of a companion robot to befriend seniors working to alleviate loneliness and isolation? You can not deny that having an extra set of wheels delivering meals would be helpful and yet both of these products seemed more likely to be a university grad-student competition winner than realistic applications of technology in our industry.
Occupancy performance AI?
I was anxious to see how AI was going to enter the occupancy performance world. No way - no how would I be interested in robotic calls to Prospects or tours - even if we have the ability this is a "No" from me.
AI effectiveness with sales and marketing saw some early wins with ChatBots on websites and integrations with CRM platforms. So much great development.
Earlier this year I was introduced to a breakthrough, the most effective use of AI that I have ever experienced. More specifically, the best use of AI to improve day-to-day business outcomes in senior living...
Welcome to The Practice Studio
The Practice Studio is a sales simulator specifically designed for senior living occupancy performance.
Just like we train pilots using flight simulators before we give them the keys to the jet - The Practice Studio trains sales professionals before we set them free on Prospects, influential family members and network contacts.
Generating leads for senior living is serious business. At times, it does seem it is the only thing the industry can think to do to improve occupancy.
The post-Covid era was laden with Bring Me More Leads strategy and yet we barely moved the occupancy needle year after year. Why?
If you ask me, it was all down to sales skills. Go ahead and pour more leads into the system but if we don't have the skills needed to nurture and succeed we are destined to close only those who had already decided to move-in before we answered the phone.
The Practice Studio is your training partner to role-play telephone calls, discovery conversations, overcoming objections and resurrecting and reengaging leads.
Now from any device with connectivity you have someone to talk with that knows all the angles, emotions, attributes and objections that consumers present when making the decision to move into senior living.
